Installing Gnucash on Mac OS 10.2.3?

I've spent many hours over the past few days trying to get vers. 
1.8.2 installed on Mac OSX, but I keep running up against brick walls!
I believe I have all the required libraries installed,but I am now 
being stopped by the following line during configure:

>checking for ltdl.h... no
>configure: error:Cannot find ltdl.h -- libtool-devel not installed?

Now, as far as I know,libtool-devel is installed, and there are at 
least 2 copies of ltdl.h on my HD, but it seems they are not in the 
right place.
Where should the file be?
And are there any Mac OS x help files available?
And lastly, has anyone actually installed Gnucash on OS X,and got it working?
