What does "echo $LANG" give you?
If it says something that ends in ".UTF-8" try restarting GnuCash like
this from the command line: "LANG=fr gnucash". Basically, just remove
the ".UTF-8" from the LANG variable. Does that fix the problem?

Probably fixed in 1.8.5. French is very well supported in the latest
version of GnuCash. In fact, French is transalated at the 96% level in
v1.8.5 according to here:

Try the "Scheduled Transactions" feature in GnuCash v1.8.5, it may do
what you want. Unfortunately there is no documentation for this yet...
you will have to just play around.

Welcome aboard, your english is fine! I think you will find GnuCash
much nicer if you install the more recent version.
