Problems importing 1.4.9 data into 1.8.7

Right -- this is a g-wrap incompatibility -- 1.6 needs g-wrap 1.11 or 1.2.x
and does NOT wok with 1.3.x.  Another potential problem is that 1.6 pobably
wont work with guile 1.6.
