Transferring accounts to a new file

  My current data file has all records for 2002-2003 and I want a new file
for 2004. Naively thinking this was simple, I exported the accounts from the
current file to an xml file on disk, then selected (from the File menu) "New
File". However, that's when I bumped into a problem: there is no option on
the File -> Import menu to use the exported accounts.

  I must be missing something simple here. How do I create a new file using
the existing accounts?
