Hello,

I've been using GnuCash in daily use for about a month. I'm having a
problem with selecting certain accounts in the Profit and Loss report. I've
browsed and searched through the mailing list archive a bit, read Gilbert's
manual, and searched on Google for an answer to my problem as well. I tried
browsing pnl.scm, but I don't know Scheme so that didn't really help:).

My goal: I get reimbursed for certain expenses (which I categorize into
their own expense accouts), and I'd like to make a report with a list of
such expenses and my reimbursement so far (which I categorize into an Income
account). I'm interested in finding the difference between the two amounts,
because that's whats owed to me.

What I'm trying to do: I'd like to make a Proft and Loss report that just
details certain subaccounts, not the entire Income and Expense accounts.

What I do: I open a Profit and Loss report (reports->income and
expense->profit and loss from the dropdown menus), go to Options (off of the
toolbar), then go to the Accounts tab (the first one). After that, I make
sure the "Always show subaccounts" checkbox is selected, and I deselect the
Income master account, and select one or more sub-accounts inside of Income.
I hit either Apply or OK.

What happens: No income shows up at all. It appears as though unless the
entire Income or Expense account is selected, nothing shows up.

What I expected: Only the income subaccounts I wanted to analyze show up in
the Profit and Loss report.

Is this a bug, or am I not using GnuCash correctly? Should I be using a
different report in the first place?

-Chris
