I've never installed fink.  You could try asking to person who maintains
Finance::Quote for fink to install it the patch into the distribution. 
You could also try bringing up a terminal window (Terminal, xterm,
etc.), running "find /sw -name Base.pm" to find the right file in
Finance::Quote, and then add the line for 'BR' with your favorite text
editor.  Good luck.
