Cheque printing

(Sorry, I am an Aussie and we haven't learned yet to write in American.)

I am running Mandrake 9.2 with Gnucash 1.8.6.  The manual refers to 
chequewriting being supported, but I can find no configuration window for 
setting this up.  How do I go about this?  I have installed the development 
RPM.

As I understand this, the HBCI protocol is used on the Continent, but not in 
Australia.  Is this right?
