   @ Lin...
Thanks for the info: su bookkeeper -c /usr/bin/gnucash. I really
should have known about that....and on a base level I really did. One of
those things ya forget if you dont use them often if ever, quite useful.
Linux security is downright draconian... how many ways would you like to
protect your data? let me count the ways.....err..no id be here hours
tryin I do believe.
@ The People who want a PW....
Hmm....its been 4 years since I rubbed this in a former employers
face... isnt it *.pwd... or is it *.pwrd ?.... hmm something like that
in the search string under windows 98 and if im given to understand it
correctly even in Win2k Non-NTFS and XP Non-NTFS. Anyhow unless you have
a 'journaled filesystem' on a newer OS ect Just Passwords are not even a
good joke...as I can Change them or Erase them at will with little or no
problems. So do you begin to start to see how insecure they really
are?... Perhaps you are thinking "but i only want to keep out the honest
people".... my response would be HUH?????? Yeah Ok...
   @ Derick,
The dev's of GC are doing a superb job. I am glad to see that you got
the fortitude to not cave in to requests like this. It really IS the
users job to maintain security. However...perhaps a "USERS HOTSHEET" for
a quick and dirty how to setup GC with a few basic security scenerios
would be in order? Then when things like this come up...its a Link
www.foo.bar.org... "here read up, it is not a long how to...just basic
and very quick....have a good day etc..." Most folks simply refuse to do
_ANYTHING_ at all in reguards to security beyond an Illusionary
PassWord... As a person to whom friends and friends of friends come to
when their computers break...it sickens me when folks refuse to even
make simple user accts...and it double sickens me to see folks who
insist on running 2k and XP with full Admin accts...of course XP corp
pro even defaults to full on ADMIN priv..."here is the weapon, here is
the ammo...please go play on the FreeWay with
them...Kbyethxcyasoon"..../grumble /rant off...sorry but its a personal
peeve of mine. Some folks it would seem just Cannot be even remotely
bothered with _any_ form of tangible security... To each their own I
suppose. But you should have seen my boss when he asked me to make up a
quickbooks form for them and they had installed PW's on all of their
stuff.....forgot to tell me about it... There are a few users on this
list who know exactly what I did...and my boss was way unamused.... :)
but he DID learn from that. BTW they had Win 98 on that system...swiss
cheese anyone?
There is a moral to that story folks...if you T*H*I*M*K about it...hmm

Peace
