Invoice formatting

Unlikely.  The gnomeprint guys wont touch it -- their response will be "upgrade
to gnome2".  So I'd suggest you wait for (or help with) the gnome2 port of
gnucash, which should fix many bugs but introduce a whole slew of new ones.
