Compiling gnucash on SuSE 9.3 (was Re: 1.8.10+ on Suse 9.3 or release import/export?)

Generally the package manager (RPM, .deb) sets this up for you.
As you bypassed all that, you caused your own headache.  Unfortunately
this is just the way slib works.  :(
