QIF matching a problem too?

I don't know if QIF poses the same kinds of matching problems that OFX
poses, but I do know that I have trouble with matching (may well be
operator ignorance and/or error). My solution (if a bit low tech and
awkward) is to not enter transactions as I go, instead just enter them
after downloading. That way ALL of the transactions are new. (Would make
it easier if payees would be downloaded in place of check numbers.)
Dates don't exactly match dates of checks/charges, but that matters
little. One thing I need to be careful about is to be sure there is
sufficient money in checking accounts to cover any possible transaction
("Don't forget that automatic mortgage payment that goes out the 6th!").
But then, monthly total of downloadable transactions is probably not
more than 30 or so.

I also contacted BankOne about a problem wherein downloaded VISA QIF
file not recognized. Someone here said it looked like something missing
from first part of file, but BankOne support said others not having a
problem. There I just open the file with a text reader and enter them
manually. Not very elegant but the best I can do now...
