multiple currencies in chart of accounts

Hello.

In a situation where your accounting needs multiple currencies for 
banks, cash, income and expenses, what would you say is the best way to 
setup the accounts in gnucash?

a) top level income/expense/equity in main currency, plus subtrees for 
each currency

or

b) top level accounts per each currency, then "carbon-copy" trees below 
those

Comments and suggestions, of course, are welcome also if different from 
the two options I have in mind.
