Hi,

This _can_ be important, because during execution, GC will print various 
error/progress messages, which will be shown in a terminal window, if GC was 
started there. By starting GC from a desktop link those messages won't be 
seen (FWIW, I tend to start GC by clicking on the accounts data file I want 
to use, and letting KDE and mime-types sort it all out for me - occasionally 
I'll use a terminal just to check for warnings about my data files, or if I 
have a problem) 

The point is that these messages can help developers diagnose problems.
