Wont load (appears to be from a newer version) error

I would have to say no. I didn't even know gnucash could compress files.
I did open some of the files with kate (a text editor) a good portion
was readable and look like entries I made. But I didn't see anything
that looked like versioning info though I only looked at the begining.
