I appreciate your taking the time to reply.  You put Peter's comments to
the devel list in a different, and more hopeful light -- my original
interpretation was somewhat more dismal than that.  I had first presumed
that the problem was limited to G1.4, but if it does affect a larger
population -- and specifically the dynamic linker -- then I'm far more
hopeful about a timely resolution to this issue.

Excellent!  Thank you very much for the advice, and for giving me some
hope that things aren't in the deep freeze with Tiger!
