That sounds like the auxiliary quote retrievel program died.  Have you
verified that quote retrieval works on your system independent of
Gnucash?  You should have a program called dump-finance-quote that was
installed with gnucash.  Does it run successfully if you issue the
command 'dump-finance-quote yahoo CSCO'?
