Thanks for your reply Robert. Derek Atkins pointed out to me what the 
message I had received actually meant and, after installing g-wrap-devel 
(and a whole bunch more devel files it turned out I didn't have), I 
believe I've installed gnucash successfully. I'm now on to installing 
the docs.
