Really? It should have created an incorrect transaction, in which only
one side is in the correct currency, and the other has the same
literal/string value (but not adjusted for exchange rates).

This is presently the unfortunate reality. I've filed this as
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=333532 . It will very likely
not make tonight's 1.9.2, though. :/
