This implies that at some point you opened the backup file
Andrew_Greig.20050805231538.xac as your datafile, which then got backed
up.  You then opened that backup, as your datafile, and it was backed
up.  Repeat thrice more.

The "core" datafile is whatever you name it: 'Andrew_Greig', probably.
That is the file that you want to backup and open.

How do you usually invoke gnucash?
