GC checkinstall denied, make install accepted

What part of "SEND ALL REPLIES TO GNUCASH-USER" are you failing
to comprehend?

The checkinstall error appears to be a result of a missing library.
Try installing the ubuntu equivalent of openssl-devel?
Also, you probably want more than just --enable-hbci; you probably
also want to set a --prefix (and maybe other options, depending on
what feature you want).  Run "./configure --help" for a full list.
