Running GNU Cash for the first time - need help

I suppose you experience a reported bug.  Please take a look at
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=449153 , check whether this is
the one, whether anything helps you.  May you even want to help us with
tracking it down.
