What's your favorite year end method?

Hi,

How do you separate years so the file size stays manageable and so you accounts show a year to date balance?

I'd like to do a search and delete by date for all transactions rather than export just accounts and start over.
If search and delete by date was easy, one could note all balances, then make an opening adjustment on 12/31/2007
that put them back to where they were before deleting tons of transactions.

Same goes for invoices.  Is there a way to search and delete by date?
