You do not try to retrieve from Yahoo Europe, do you?  (see
http://lists.gnucash.org/pipermail/gnucash-user/2007-June/020596.html if
you do)

If not, we will need a bit more info.  You might do the following:
* get
http://svn.gnucash.org/trac/browser/gnucash/trunk/packaging/win32/exetype.pl?format=txt
* rename it to exetype.pl, move it to $prefix\bin (the directory with
gnucash-bin.exe)
* start > run > cmd.exe
*  cd the\directory\mentioned\above\bin
*  perl -w exetype.pl gnucash-bin.exe console
*  gnucash

Does that give you more information?
