Is cduce like elmenttree?  I used that to read in and write out a gnucash 
datafile, and found that there was a some of the datafile that was not 
reproduced -- maybe not pure XML standard.

That's when I dropped the effort to sort through the datafiles
with XML tools
and sift out unwanted data by age or anything searchable....
