State of Postgres support, and/or command line interface?

I'm running 2.0.5 (under Gentoo, seems to be the latest in portage).

What I want to do is be able to either use the postgres backend permanently (last I read it's still not the preferred backend?) *or* be able to export my data into postgres.

What I'd like to accomplish with this is to create automated webpages with reports/status of budget for my household.  I can do this from the XML files if need be, but it'd be mighty nice to be able to query data from a database backend.

Just thought I'd see if there are any other suggestions.
