printing troubles in debian -- Solved

Thanks for reviving this Heather. This issue is solved for me for
now. Something got corrupted in ~/.gconf/*. 

After I moved that aside, all was well. 

There is obviously some other issue going on in terms of .gconf
getting corrupted, but that's another story.
