Missing pkgconfig

Hi
I'm trying to install v2.2.1 but the configure gets stuck at "Can't find
pkgconfig", I've tried adding /usr/lib/pkgconfig to my PATH but no luck
there,
I've attached the output of the configure script if it's of any help.
