Can not load GnuCash

I hope the following is of some help.
There wasn't anything in the /tmp/gnucash.trace file.
The files were created originally in Ubuntu 7.04 and GnuCash 2.0.2-3.
Both file have been opened and saved several times under the current set
up.
When I tried to open the file with GnuCash, received the message:
There was an error parsing the file /home/jack/DBC.

Couldn't get registers: No such process.
(A) At this point, GnuCash Tip of the Day and the GnuCashscreen
appeared. GnuCash Tip of the Day is not responding.
