Can not load GnuCash

And /tmp/gnucash.trace was EMPTY?  I find that very hard to believe!
What do you get from:

  file /home/jack/DBC

If it says gzipped/compressed file, then what do you get from:

  zcat /home/jack/DBC | head

> gnucash-env gdb gnucash-bin

Umm.. This is worrysome.  Why was there an error reading a shared
library?

This is also worrysome..  Looks like you might have a broken
build or something.

Not responding???   That's also worrysome.

What window manager do you use?  Have you enabled any WM special
features?
