UK stocks not accepted in .qic import

Trial windows download of Gnucash 2.2.1 for imported MS Money file, prior to
switching to Ubuntu.
I spent about 2 hours loading 25 accounts ready to import but because it
requires a ticker for every stock ever bought (even closed accounts) and the
exchange, it was not possible to complete. Only US exchanges are listed and
not LSE or UK exchanges. I can find no reference to this problem on any help
site or forum. Is this program really only intended for use in USA?
