installing Gnucash 2.2.1 over 2.1.5

Hi,
Do I need to remove my previous version of Gnucash before I update to the
newest version? I'm running Windows XP. I also run Gnucash on Linux KUBUNTU.
I am currently running Effy Edgy, but need to upgrade to the Fawn version. I
have the same question when upgrading there.  Do I need to remove the old
before installing the new?
