Maybe you should try a real distribution? Seriously, this isn't
a big deal, and it's been solved pretty much everywhere already.
See my response to your comment on the bug. In short, no, we
can't remove guile/scheme because some of the major features of
gnucash depend on it: e.g. reports. Making that optional would
be .... irresponsible.
Having said that, removing slib as a dependency would be a good thing.
I encourage you to take the ONE DAY to learn scheme syntax and to
submit patches to remove the slib dependencies.
