find menu options stopped working

I hope someone can help!

The Business -> Vendor -> Find Vendor, Bill, Job options stopped
working.  Same for Business -> Customer and Business -> Employee.  The
New options do work, as well as all the other menu options I tried.  

What it is not doing is opening a window.  Sometimes I see something
flash.  

Of the many years I've been using GnuCash, I've never had a problem
that stopped me from doing my bookkeeping.  I'm lost!!

My version is 2.2.1 built from r16462 on 2007-09-24.  On Mandriva
2008.0.  Gnome 2.20
