Cannot change Estimate Budget Values Start Date

Hello all:

Running GnuCash 2.2.6 on Win XP. I'm unable to save a change to the Start
Date input box in the Estimate Budget Values dialog box. I'm trying to set
it to 3/1/2008, the date I started tracking expenses with GnuCash.  I've
tried changing the date manually and it changes back to 08/01/2008 when I
click the Ok button. If I try to change using the calendar, I observe no
response when I click any day, month, or year on the calendar.  Budget
period is 3/1/2009 and number of periods is 6.  Why am I unable to save a
change to the Start Date input box?
