inflation

It appears that the USA and other places in the
world may be headed for a period of high inflation.
So I would like to ask,

* Are there any special standard practices for
  accounting during inflationary periods?

* Does Gnucash support these practices?

As a new gnucash user I have been looking though
the mailing list archives and gather there are
issues when dealing with assets that have time-
varying values such as stocks or currency. And
in inflationary times would not all assets have
time-varying values (in constant dollars)?

Thanks for any thoughts/info.
