The fink-beginners mailing list has a couple very skilled folks who
are very patient about explaining how to fix things, especially if you
copy and paste the error message that appears when "things don't work".
One of the common things that happen is that fink commander doesn't
work too well with system 10.5. You're really better off using the
command line in a Terminal window.
The next thing that can go wrong is you have to run 'fink selfupdate-
rsync' once after you install fink from their disk image file, or you
won't ever get the unstable package descriptions, though gnucash 2.2.5
is available in the stable tree. (Since you'll have to compile it
anyway - no stable binary available yet-- I do recommend enabling
unstable and building the latest version.)
There are several other fairly common glitches with getting fink
running from scratch which I don't understand as well as the gurus.
They are very helpful at resolving them.
