GnuCash stalling at startup

   I just upgraded to 2.2.8 to see if it would fix the problem but it
   didn't. This started with the 2.2.7 version.
   My problem is that when GnuCash is starting up, the splash screen
   shows, it starts loading things then it stalls showing
   gnucash/app-utils.
   It will stay there for 2-5 minutes before the register shows up.
   Anyone else having this problem?
   Any suggestions on how to fix this?
