GnuCash 2.2.5 compilation problems on Ubuntu Heron

Hi All,

I have been having a heck of a time attempting to compile GnuCash 2.2.5
on Ubuntu Hardy Heron.

The error I am getting matches a closed bug (483631):
checking for SLIB support... configure: error:

   Cannot find SLIB.  Are you sure you have it installed?

   and http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483631

The fact that the bug has been closed suggests to me that the bug has
been fixed, but that does not seem to be the case.  

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, the bug below suggests setting up a symbolic link
between /usr/share/slib/slibcat and /usr/share/slibcat
I may have messed this up, but I don't seem to have slibcat in
either /usr/share/slib or /usr/share.  

The following dependency list is from the README.dependencies file that
comes with the GnuCASH 2.2.5 distribution.  In many cases the library
name in the readme does not exactly match the library presented by
Ubuntu's Snaptic package manager.  In such cases I have taken a guess
and installed what seems to be the corresponding package.  My comments
are next to each dependency.
