I started using linux seriously with an ubuntu distro, and found it 
really friendly! Now I've got only Debian Lenny at work and it's much 
more stable than any microsoft OS in spite of beeing a testing version. 
And it's user-friendly enough to decide not going back to microsoft 
never again!

I guess you should try some other distros before speaking this way. 
Remember there's a huge community there to help you. You just need to 
learn how to ask properly and politely.
