Isn't this sometimes a symptom of storing the data file in the
.gnucash directory? The data file needs to be anywhere BUT that
directory (where the user has appropriate permissions, of course).
so if you have saved the gnucash data file "myaccounts" is in your
home directory, on a linux, bsd or mac system you could launch gnucash
with a command like:
gnucash ~/myaccounts
