I don't think the developers are aiming Gnucash at *any* users.  They're 
aiming it at themselves.  If it happens to be useful for others, that's 
fine.

That doesn't mean you won't be able to convince someone to implement a 
useful feature that they don't personally need.  However, it does mean 
you'll need to convince them.  If they're not interested, you're out of 
luck.

Same is true of Quicken & MS Money.  If the company isn't interested in 
implementing a new feature, you're out of luck (even if you paid your 
$49.95 ;-)

Actually, you're less out of luck with open source software, since 
you're free to implement the feature yourself or pay to have it implemented.

If you really want to get the feature developed, maybe you should offer 
to pay one of the developers to do it.  Someone might do it for the 
price of a pizza ;-)
