Can't change reconciled splits anymore (help)

The problem with this is that then I lose my most recent changes, plus I
don't know which to restore because I don't know exactly when the problem
happened.

Are there any other ideas (from anyone?) Is there a setting someplace to not
allow editing of reconciled splits anymore?
