Account Report options

I've noticed a couple cool reports, that give info on the account
you're looking at: Account Report and Account Transaction Report.
But I'm not sure that I'm understanding them, so maybe someone can
help me out. The first is a list of everything in (and out of) the
account. The second one seems to be just the current transaction.
I'm not sure that I see the point of the second, unless someone
needs a formatted page with info on a transaction?

But I'm writing because neither report seems to have many
configurable options. Just a "Display" tab, where I can change which
columns are present, and a "General" tab, where I can change some of
how it looks. But the transactions aren't modifiable (e.g., sorting
and filtering), as they are on the "Transaction Report".

Perhaps what I'm looking for is the Transaction Report, but with the
ability to know/guess that I'm looking for a report on the active
account. Somehow I can't bring myself to hunting through the gui on
the options page for the account I'm already looking at, each time I
want an account summary. Am I whining? Is this already there, and I
haven't figured it out?

I really like Gnucash's account structures, as far as the hows and
whys of what it does. I just need to be able to navigate it and
extract the information I need, when, e.g., I need to know how much
I've spent on groceries the last several quarters.
