recent invoice close crashes 2.2.6 -- would building from latest source fix that?

There is a 2.2.9 package available from a non-official repo 
deb http://mepis.blue-pearls.net/repo/ mepis8cr main non-free 
This is fine on my lenny slightly upgraded to squeeze system
but any potential user would want to check the dependencies carefully
in case a major library upgrade is required
