gnucash on Mac OS X - Fails starting up

I'm a newb so apologies in advance...
I downloaded and installed gnucash on OS X/Quartz using the instructions
here: http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/MacOSX/Quartz
I'm running Leopard 10.5.7, Xcode 3.1

No changes to the defaults. Everything seemed to go pretty well, but I
cannot run from the command line.  When I do, I get the following
error(s)....

main: Error on gbr_init: Unable to open /proc/self/maps for reading.
**
gnc.gui:ERROR:gnc-main-window.c:2914:gnc_main_window_setup_window: assertion
failed: (filename)
Abort trap

Can't find anything in the list archive or via google. Any help is
appreciated.
