Hi Joe,

Apparently the list doesn't like HTML-only messages, could you resend in plain 
text, please?

To guess at the answer to your question, on SuSE, I'd start a normal terminal 
then issue the command "su -" (no quotes) and enter the root password when 
prompted.  Having tried to get root on an Ubuntu Karmic box today for the 
first time, maybe the command "sudo xterm" may be of more use.
