I installed and tested 2.2.5 using yum on a laptop running Fedora 8.  I have 
just compiled and installed 2.3.8 on Fedora 8 and there are no crashes on 
changing properties.

Thanks for letting me know there was already a bug report on FancyDate, I will 
add my comments to the report.
