Longer file name...

How do you turn on the 'autodelete' function?  When I 'saved as' this 
morning to a shorter name, a folder was made that contains all past 
saved files.  In addition to the folder, a new xac and log files with 
the shorter name were made.  None of the old files with the longer name 
were deleted.
