change of transaction date during qif import

I couldn't reproduce this with GnuCash 2.2.8 on a Mac. The date was imported
correctly as August 8th.

One question: When you imported the QIF, did you notice immediately that the
date was imported correctly? Or did you close GnuCash and only notice later?
