I used to use Quicken 2001 in Windoze and need to know about zeroing

In Quicken, I collected a QIF file when I zapped my computer and put on
Ubuntu 8.10.

I use GnuCash from the Ubuntu repository (2-2-6)

I need to zero all my accounts as the figures are in a bit of a mess and I
want to begin my accounts from 1st January. I also need to reappraise my
categories. I tried to find out here but I think my terminology may not be
correct?

QUESTION
Is there anyway I can remove all transaction information in one operation?
